EDIT: Sadly there is a major bug with the HEAT mechanic I added to the game. Workaround can be found in the heat section below
((Also slight bug with the mouse. If your mouse is "loose" and leaving the play area of the game, pulling up the pause menu with escape key or middle mouse button then clicking resume will cause it to "fix" and be locked to the play area. Thanks for your patience!!!))

Made in 48 hours for Kenney Jam 2025

The Mission

You are the Mechanic, the unsung hero in the cockpit of a City-Class Battle Mech. Your pilot is handling the fancy flying; your job is to handle what truly matters: POWER. Survive the enemy onslaught by managing your mech's limited power supply and keeping its complex systems from tearing themselves apart.

Controls:

  • Look: Mouse
  • Interact: Left-Click

Core Mechanic: Power Cell Management

Your entire game revolves around physically grabbing Power Cells and plugging them into different system sockets. You have more sockets than cells, so you must constantly make strategic choices about what to power and what to sacrifice.

  • To Grab: Look at a glowing cell (either in a socket or loose) and Left-Click.
  • To Place: While holding a cell, look at a valid, empty socket (it will glow) and Left-Click.

System Breakdown: Your Arsenal

Weapons (3 Sockets)

Your pilot fires automatically, but the weapon's effectiveness is up to you.

  • 1 Cell: Fires a slow, highly inaccurate burst. Good for suppressive fire, bad for dealing real damage.
  • 2 Cells: Fires a faster, more accurate 3-shot burst. The reliable workhorse of your arsenal.
  • 3 Cells: Overcharges the system to fire a continuous, deadly accurate laser beam. This is your highest damage output, but it generates extreme amounts of Heat.

Shields (2 Sockets)

Your shields are your regenerating health pool. Your Hull (your mech's true health) does not regenerate.

  • 0 Cells: Your shields will slowly decay from the enemy's constant chip damage.
  • 1 Cell: Regenerates just enough to stay even with the enemy's basic attacks. You will be stable, but vulnerable.
  • 2 Cells: Provides rapid regeneration and significant damage reduction. This is the ONLY way to survive the enemy's high-damage Super Laser attack.

Thrusters (1 Socket + Button)

Used to dodge the enemy's devastating Dash Attack. This requires foresight.

  1. Plug a cell into the Thruster socket.
  2. The nearby Evade Button will begin to charge (it will glow orange).
  3. After one second, it will turn green. It is now Ready.
  4. Click the ready Evade Button to execute a rapid sideways dodge.

Critical Systems & Debuffs

Heat Management (The Silent Killer)

WARNING. THERE IS A BUG HERE. UNFORTUNATELY I LEARNED A BIG LESSON ABOUT WEB BUILDS THE HARD WAY HAHA

((So the issue is caused by me trying to lock the players view in place in a certain way whenever they interact with the wheel. Sadly this is not supported by browsers. Big sad. I DID find a workaround though it's janky af.

When you click and hold on the wheel, if you hit the escape key also (still holding left click) your mouse will become visible and you'll be able to crank the wheel! Yay! This does definitely mess up the flow big time  and kind've makes it impossible to play full screen BUT it is at least playable. Please try to think of it like a feature and not a bug!))

Nearly every action generates Heat. The current level is shown on a gauge on your dashboard to your right.

  • Overheat: If the Heat Gauge fills completely, all your systems will shut down. Weapons stop working, shields won't regenerate, and thrusters are disabled. You are a sitting duck.
  • Venting Heat: To cool down, you must:
    1. Plug a cell into the Coolant Socket.
    2. This enables the large Venting Wheel.
    3. Look at the wheel, then Click-and-Hold the Left Mouse Button.
    4. Move your mouse in a circular motion to physically crank the wheel and vent heat. The faster you spin, the faster you cool down.

The Negative Energy Bomb (The Scramble)

The enemy will sometimes lob a glowing energy bomb. If it hits, all of your Power Cells will become Infected.

  • Infected Cells are useless. They stop providing power and must be cleansed.
  • To Cleanse: Grab the infected purple cells and plug them into the Cleansing Station sockets on the left hand wall.
  • The Mini-Game: Plugging in a cell activates the station. A meter with a green "sweet spot" will appear. You must click the Purge Button
  • Success: All cells currently in the station are cleansed and can be used again.
  • Failure: The meter flashes red and resets with a new sweet spot after a short delay.
  • when the needle is inside the sweet spot to succeed.

You have all the information. The pilot is counting on you. Don't let them down. Good luck.

I really love the idea of mixing resource management and mech combat. Its amazing. And as I love the resource management kinda games I very enjoyed it.
My only issue is that how hard did I try, I couldn't be able to use the Venting Wheel. Its not turning.

(1 edit)

Did you put a power cell in the panel? I see this is a reoccurring comment so sadly I didn't do a good enough job D:

Oh my gosh so heartbreaking but yea the mechanic is definitely not working! And it works in my editor too. Daaang. I can see the handle highlights properly when you're hovering it but sure enough it won't spin for the life. Ffffffff

Glad you enjoyed the game otherwise though! So much left on the cutting room floor but I'm glad I was able to at least make a complete game loop.

Ayy sorry to spam your comment but I actually found the error and a fix! Unfortunately I learned a real lesson today hahaha

So the issue is caused by me trying to lock the players view in place in a certain way whenever they interact with the wheel. Sadly this is not supported by browsers. Big sad. I DID find a workaround though it's janky af.

Wow thats really unlucky. Its a problem that you'd never imagine would happen. I will definetly try to keep that in mind when I will need to implement such a mechanic.

This is really well executed as well taking the power play (pun intended) to the desired level.

Astounding you made it in such time, great stuff.

Thank you so much for your kindess! I'm sad by the bits I had to leave behind to get the game submitted in time. There was literally less than a minute left in the jam when I got it in! But I'm super satisfied that game actually has a complete loop and the vision itself is still there.

Tends to be the case with game jams usually, plan small and enrich when you are satisfied... Tend to work for me at least.

Still you've achieved wonderful results per the given time, be proud mate.

woah this is really cool omg

Thank you! I tried lol

Woof! Got it in literally at the last minute. Scary stuff.

Nightmare

Literally under a minute of time left  D:
